He who sows the wind shall reap the whirlwind! Qui sème le vent récolte la tempête!

Just off Boston, in Dorchester, you cannot miss this 35 meter high tower (150 feet) with its 3 big blades catching the wind, that generates 150,000 kw per hour. It was the first windmill in Boston installed in May 2005, along highway 93 to serve as an example of renewable energy.
Across the highway, next to the Umass Boston campus, these signs support the Wind Park project, in Nantucket Sound, renown for its strong winds. This proposal that would consist of 130 offshore wind turbines arises a great deal of polemic. Supporters of the clean energy argue that it would benefit the environment and create new jobs in the area. On the other hand, opponents (Cape Cod residents) claim that it would ruins the natural beauty of this touristy area and generate noise pollution interfering with the wildlife and vacacionists.

What do you think ?

And here is the big natural gas tank with its bright colors, located just at the opposite of the wind turbine. Hmm! Do you think it looks pretty in the landscape?

Hmmm! Vous trouvez ça joli dans le paysage?

A superb performance at the Symphony Hall! Un concert superbe au Symphony Hall!

The Boston Symphony Orchestra is now going to perform Beethoven Piano Concerto no5, Emperor, interpreted by renowned pianist Leon Fleisher, here at the Symphony Hall. This concert hall is considered to be one of the best in the world due to its exceptional acoustics. Built in 1900, it was also the first auditoria to apply new scientific techniques in acoustics developed by physicist Wallace Clement Sabine from Harvard. Everything was designed to obtain the best sound everywhere in the auditorium: the coffered ceiling, the shallow balconies, the floor of the stage and the walls built all sloped inward. The Symphony Hall also features a magnificent symphonic Aeolian-Skinner Pipe Organ, which is one the world's largest in the world.

To go or not to go? That is the question!... Y aller ou ne pas y aller ? Telle est la question!

Another snow storm hit us on Friday with almost a foot of snow accumulated on the ground in the Boston area.
Even though it’s not unusual at this time of the year, it didn’t cheer up neither the travelers who were grounded in various airports around the country, nor our four legged- friends.
Since the storm is over, Roméo, our Maine-Coon cat, gets some fresh air and inspects the white rug left by Mother Nature.
To go or not to go?
That is the question. "Well! Finally I'll go. Brrrr!"
"Eh bien finalement... J'y vais. Brrrr !

"RSVP: Jim Lambie"

The Museum Of Fine Art (MFA) is currently exhibiting contemporary artwork by Scottish artist Jim Lambie, nominated in 2005 for the Turner Prize. His kitsch sculptures are made of everyday objects, such as bright painted broken chairs hung on a black and white geometrical abstract pattern wall.
In the same vein as Victor Vasarely, the leader of the Op Art movement, Lambie uses a combination of repetitive sequences of black and white (or vibrant rainbow colors) layered stripes, creating a strong optical illusion and thus a kinetic effect. "RSVP: Jim Lambie" is the name of this exhibit.
Why, in your view, Lambie called it that way ?
Here are some of his work: http://www.tate.org.uk/britain/turnerprize/2005/jimlambie.htm http://www.pingmag.jp/2006/04/12/jim-lambie-art-to-feel/

Stackable cars! Voitures empilables!

Like the self service bike renting (the velib) available all over the city for a very cheap price in Paris; the "city car" project (designed by M.I.T Media Lab) is based on the same concept : a shareable vehicle that users would pick up and deposit any time of the day, at many convenient locations linked with the subway network.
But the most innovative aspect of this lightweight electric car is that it is conceived to be stackable in order to relieve traffic congestions in town. Do you think, this eggshell-shaped car will become a reality in the future?
Here and there to learn more.
