Stackable cars! Voitures empilables!

Like the self service bike renting (the velib) available all over the city for a very cheap price in Paris; the "city car" project (designed by M.I.T Media Lab) is based on the same concept : a shareable vehicle that users would pick up and deposit any time of the day, at many convenient locations linked with the subway network.
But the most innovative aspect of this lightweight electric car is that it is conceived to be stackable in order to relieve traffic congestions in town. Do you think, this eggshell-shaped car will become a reality in the future?

Tout comme « les Velib », vélos en libre service disponibles partout dans Paris pour un prix dérisoire, le projet "city car" (voiture de ville), du Media lab au MIT, repose sur le même concept : un véhicule commun que les usagers retireraient et déposeraient à tout moment de la journée, dans de nombreuses bornes reliées au réseau du métro.

The Ray and Maria Stata Center that hosts, M.I.T prestigious Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, in Cambridge, has recently been a point of contention.
Indeed, this distorted shapes complex with tilted shimmering metal facades, designed by the renowned architect, Frank Gehry, is leaking. As a result, MIT has filed a negligence suit against the architect, claiming that the design has caused leaks, masonry cracking and mold grew.
Many researchers and students are also complaining about various annoyances inside the building: bad working space functionality, resonance, vibrations and even vertigo. One of them ironically said: "No worry at Stata about earthquakes - it already had one." Hmm! What do you think? Does this urbanism style really fit with the ideology of modernism? Le Ray and Maria Stata Center qui héberge, à Cambridge, le prestigieux Laboratoire de l’Intelligence Artificielle du MIT, a fait récemment l’objet d’un litige.
En effet, ce complexe aux formes déformées, avec ses façades en métal miroitantes inclinées, conçu par le célèbre architecte Frank Gehry, se fissure. Le MIT a ainsi entamé un procès à l’encontre de l’architecte, suite à des fuites d’eau, des fissures, et des moisissures résultant de négligences dans l’exécution des travaux.
De nombreux chercheurs et étudiants se plaignent également de divers désagréments à l’intérieur du centre: mauvaise fonctionnalité de l’espace, résonance, vibrations et même de vertiges. L’un d’entre eux a déclaré avec ironie « Ne vous-en faites pas en ce qui concerne un tremblement de terre au Stata Center - Il en a déjà subi un!». Intéressant! Qu’en pensez-vous? Ce style d’urbanisme est-il vraiment en adéquation avec l’idéologie du modernisme ?

How to find out the Gender of French nouns?(Part 3)

According to their endings:

Common French Masculine endings :

• Nouns ending in -isme: le modernisme (modernisme), le futurisme (futurism), un mécanisme (mécanisme), le tourisme (tourism), le socialisme (socialism), le capitalisme (capitalism), le protestantisme (protestantism) etc...
• Nouns ending in -et, -at : un objet (object), un effet (effect), un jouet (toy), un poulet (chicken), un résultat (result), un plat (dish) etc…
• Nouns ending in –in: Le féminin (feminine), le masculin (masculine), le chemin (way, path), le vin (wine) , le matin (morning), un câlin (cuddle) etc… Except : la fin (the end), une catin (a prostitute).

Common French Feminine endings :

• Nouns ending in -oire: une histoire (an history), une armoire (a wardrobe), la mémoire (memory)...
  Except: un laboratoire (laboratory. Used above in the text), un territoire (territory), un auditoire (auditory), un interrogatoire (questioning), l'ivoire (ivory) , un observatoire (observatory), un mémoire (research paper), un promontoire (promontory), un réfectoire (refectory), un accessoire (accessory).
• Nouns ending in -ade: une façade (a facade ), la salade (salad), la limonade (lemonade), une promenade (walk, a stroll) ... Except: le stade (stadium), un grade (grade, degree), le jade (jade).
• Nouns ending in -té: la fonctionnalité (fonctionality), la qualité (quality), la quantité (quantity), la beauté (beauty), la publicité (advertising) etc... Except: un côté (edge).
• Nouns ending in -ance, -ence, -ense, -anse: la résonance (resonance), la défaillance (failure), la naissance (birth), la chance (chance), la négligence, la défense (defense), la danse (dance).
