A Provencal touch

Eric, on January 2, posted a photo of the restaurant, Sel De La Terre (literally translated as “salt of the earth”), 6.018km away from Provence, on the waterfront area of Boston. Not only they offer authentic French cuisine, but they also have delicious pastries in the 'boulangerie" (bakery) at the entrance of the restaurant.

Le 2 janvier dernier, Eric a publié une photo du restaurant, Sel De La Terre (salt of the earth), situé dans le port de Boston, à 6.018km de la Provence. Non seulement ils proposent une authentique cuisine française mais ils ont aussi de délicieuses pâtisseries dans la boulangerie (bakery) à l’entrée du restaurant.

Old State House

Do you remember my previous post with the Massachusetts state house? Well that wasn’t the only state house Massachusetts has had. The building in thefront is the old state house. This building is known as the oldest surviving building in Boston. It was built on the site of the first town house which burned in 1711. There, meetings were held for the exchange economic and the local news. The shiny building in the background is known as the Exchange Place. Its construction ended in 1984 and rises up to 510 feet, ranking it the 12th highest building in Boston.

Vous souvenez vous de mon sujet sur la state house du Massachusetts? Et bien, ce n’était pas la seule state house que le Massachusetts ait eu. Le bâtiment devant est l’ancienne state house. Ce bâtiment est connu pour être la plus ancienne construction de Boston. Il a été construit à l’emplacement de la première mairie qui a brulé en 1711. Là se tenaient des réunions pour le commerce et pour les informations locales. Derrière se dresse la tour scintillante connue sous le nom de «Exchange Place». Sa construction s’est achevée en 1984 et sa hauteur est de 155,5 mètres, ce qui la place à la douzième place des bâtiments les plus hauts de Boston.

Fake or real?

This amazing collection of Glass Models of Plants, known as the “Glass Flowers”, located in the Harvard Museum Of Natural History, is the most unique in the world. It features more than 3,000 impressively realistic models of over 800 different plant species. This handcraft collection was created by the artisan Leopold Blaschka in Germany, from 1887 through 1936. The models show remarkably accurate anatomical details. Thanks to Elisabeth for pointing out this fabulous place in her comment on Eric’s blog.

Cette collection impressionnante de plantes en verre, connue sous le nom de «Glass Flowers» située dans le Musée Botanique de Harvard est unique au monde. Plus de 3.000 modèles parmi 800 espèces de plantes différentes étonnamment réalistes y sont exposées. Cette collection de fleurs de verre confectionnées à la main a été créée par l’artisan Leopold Blaschka, en Allemagne, entre 1887 et 1936. Guess who I met with at Harvard? Eric from Paris Daily Photo touches John Harvard's foot to receive good luck in 2007. Harvard students and students from all over the world stop by the famous statue to perpetuate the tradition. John's shoe is shiny like new! In the upscale neighborhood of Beacon Hill, doors are traditionally decorated for the Holidays, a nice way to welcome visitors. Merry Christmas to everyone!

Light it up!

Everyone is getting ready for the Holidays. Yards and houses are dressed up with lights and inflatable Santa's. This house has every decoration you could think of: Santa and his reindeers, garlands lights, and light up arches circle the house. This family wants to display the North Pole! What do you think?

Tout le monde se prépare pour les fêtes. Les jardins et les maisons sont illuminées et décorées avec des Pères Noël gonflables. Cette maison est bardée de toutes les décorations que vous pouvez imaginez: le père Noël et ses rennes ainsi que des guirlandes et des arches de lumière entourent la maison.
